Jose Araujo, 83, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at Phillip Hulitar Hospice Care Center on May 24 after a valiant battle with Covid. He was husband to the late Barbara (Varone) Araujo of Pawtucket. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Antonio and Amelia (Gregorio) Araujo of Pawtucket.
He is survived by his 3 children, Jody Norberg & her husband Christopher of Pawtucket, Michael Araujo & his wife Marylou of Pawtucket, Kristen Angela & her husband Daniel of Lincoln. He was the beloved grandfather to 9 grandchildren: Christopher Johnson of North Providence; Felicia Mayben, Kayla Zapata, Amanda Araujo, & Cory Norberg of Pawtucket; Bethany Araujo of Los Angeles; & Antonio Angela, Ian Angela, & Brianna Angela of Lincoln. He also had 7 great-grandchildren: Malaiah Rudolph, Kiaran Johnson & Chayton Johnson of North Providence; & Addyson Mayben, Lina Zapata, Nelson Zapata, & Lucas Zapata of Pawtucket; 2 sisters, Maria & Elena Araujo. He was the brother of the late Manuel Araujo of Pawtucket.
Jose served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, was an avid sports fan (NY Giants, Bruins, Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals), & enjoyed amateur photography & drawing. He was also a dedicated employee of Pawtucket Fasteners in Pawtucket for over 30 years.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, May 30th from 8:30AM - 11:00AM at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a funeral home service at 11:00AM. Burial is private.
